Baby Shower Wreath Finished

Whipped up this super cute diaper wreath today.  I wanted to keep it a little simplistic since the cake is much more detailed.  The colours all match with the cake and I can't wait for my friend's shower on the 3rd.  It'll hang on the door to welcome everyone to celebrate the birth of this little munchkin!!!

A Diaper Cake =D

My kiddos godparents are having their first baby soon and all of us are more than thrilled for them.  They have been trying for 8 years to have a little peanut.  Well her baby shower is in early April and I gave making a diaper cake a shot.  While it was frustrating at times, I LOVE it.  I think it turned out so cute.

They don't know what they are having and I was at a shower once where this was the theme:
Pink Or Blue, We Welcome You!!

I just finished this up about an hour ago.  I also made lollipop washcloths and rosebud socks.  I really enjoyed stretching myself and trying out some new crafts.  I'll be starting a diaper wreath for the door at her shower tomorrow and I'm hoping to have it done by Saturday, so I'll post pictures when I get that done.

Blessings!!!! and now I need to get some sleep.  lol

How Sweet Is She??

I've got budbud in my lap and we like to listen to worship music after dinner as he's settling down to head to bed.  One of our fav artists is Britt Nicole.  I find myself humming her to Aizen when we're snuggling.  There was a link to a little 6 year old named Elizabeth who is singing her song Set The World On Fire.  PTL for little souls who just love and adore their Maker and Creator.  Here's the LINK for it, she's just so precious!! I pray for all our little ones that they will just be on fire for God and make a difference.

Tip: How I Organize My Coloured Images =)

After many years of crafting I've embraced my crafting style instead of getting frustrated like I used to, I used to think I would give up on crafts too easily before I realized what my crafting style was.  I go on what I call binge crafting.  I do one thing for a few weeks until I get sick of doing it and then move onto something else.  I do all kinds of stuff .... cardmaking, scrapbooking, sewing, crochet, cross stitch, painting, bow making and a bunch of other odds and ends.

During the morning I do light therapy to help with my clinical depression.  Sitting there for an hour in front of a lamp can get pretty boring, so I colour!!! I haven't ventured into the great stuff I've seen online with shading.  I want to do that eventually (I'm really intimidated by it) but for now I'm content with just single colour colouring.  Every image here is a Bugaboo Stamp except for one in the second picture I have used a Meljen's baby digi stamp.

When I colour,  I usually make around 10 of the same image.  I like to make multiples of cards and I find it difficult to go from scratch to full card.  ie. colour image, pick colours, assemble card  .... So as you can see I have A LOT of images coloured and I like to keep track of what colours I used in case someone wants a duplicate of a card I've made.  So, here's what works for me. =)

I have a little book I got at the dollar store and I put all my image colour recipes in it.

This is one of my fav Bugaboo Stamps.  I just want to eat up his little ice cream cone.  On the back when I am done, I put the date by month, day, year and letter (some days I colour 2-3 different images).  So, this little bear is 2/15/11A (the A is what I use first, then B and C, etc.)

I put a little dot of the copic colour I use on the page.  I put a piece of cardstock underneath so it bleeds onto that.  Then comes the copic marker name and what part I coloured in.

And here is a page with a couple different image examples.  It has the date code, a general desciption of the stamp and who it's by.

I hope that this will help someone help keep organized in their image keeping.  I'll be back tomorrow with my newest scripture digi stamp.  Blessings my friends!!!!!

Christmas Hats..... A Few Months Late........

I just got this picture back from my father in law.  I made matching santa hats for us to wear at Christmas time.  That's my hubby Daniel, me, Melody and bitty munchkin Aizen (eye zen).  Isn't it funny that my son is picking his nose and this is the only picture of us in our hats that was taken?  haha

Monday Question ~ What's Your Secret.... Or Not So Secret Addiction?

I found myself on etsy today (AiAi was in my lap at the computer and we were watching a kids movie so I needed to do... something..... while being pinned down... right??) looking at homemade purses and it got me thinking of how addicted I am to purses.  I need to sell a bunch of mine, I think I have around 15 handmade purses. LOL  I'm also a bit of a chocolate fiend, I need to have a daily dose of chocolate and I load up at christmas, valentine's day and easter after they go on sale and keep them in my freezer.

So, what are you secretly or not so secretly addicted to?

Come on back tomorrow for the final question and my new digi stamp.  Have a great night y'all. =)

PTL My Muchkin Got Acccepted To Summer Camp!!!

I am over the moon right now that Melody got accepted into the autism camp.  It's on a lottery system and the great thing is that it's free!! Our provincial respite place pays for the children to go.  She will go for a week and the camper to counsellor ratio is 1:1.5  The cabin is set up so that their are 6 children to a cabin and each has their own room and they share a bathroom.  It's wonderful b/c they all will have different nighttime routines and this works so well.  She's going to get to experience so many wonderful things this summer.

So, speaking of summer camp.... what are your favourite things to do in the summer?

By myself, I like to sit in the backyard and journal to my Ruby.  I like to make smoothies and just sit and watch the squirrels in our yard.

With the kiddolets, I really like sidewalk chalk drawing.  It's so much fun to watch them explore colours and see what it on their mind to draw out.  We also have ribbon twirlers that we like spinning around.  I like going on bug hunts with my daughter and seeing what ones she can catch.  I like making yogurt popsicles and sitting out on a hot day enjoying them and eating dinner outside on the patio.

I can't wait to hear what you enjoy doing.  =)

Saturday's Question... Finally On Time

We're starting to feel better.  My hubby is still feeling dizzy today but he's not nauteous so that's an improvement.  Yeah!!!  Sickness makes me think of comfort food.  What is your favourite comfort food when you are sick?

I have a few favourites.  I always feel better when I have a cup of warm/hot lemon water with honey.  It always makes me feel warm inside.  I'm also really partial to mac n cheese and chicken rice soup.  I cheat and make mine with cut up chicken that's already been cooked, rice and store bought reduced sodium chicken stock.

Well, my 3 year old is throwing cutlery out of the drawer so I better go tend to that.  See you all again tomorrow. =D

Friday's Question ~ Youtube Video Fav?

We spend some time with youtube playing in the background everyday, on some days it's better than the radio b/c I get to choose what music I want to listen to.  So for yesterday's question (we're still sick /sigh), I'd love for you to share one or a few of your favourite youtube videos.  You can just paste in the link and we'll just have to cut and paste to watch it. hehe

Jpop Favs (I love Japan and japanese pop music so you'll be introduced to a couple of my fav bands!!!):
Over by High and Mighty Color

Pride by High and Mighty Color

Shunken Sentimental by Scandal

Couple Fav Kids Videos (cause you know we all have to watch them when the kids do lol):
Proud To Be Me by Signing Time

Three Little Pigs by Debbie and Friends

Ants In Your Pants by Eric Herman

The Pirate Song by Eric Herman

Just gosh darn funny videos:
Baby Potter

Baby Dancing To Beyonce

Sneezing Baby Panda

So, these are just a few of my favourites, can't wait to see what your favourites include. =D

Fog Brain ~ I Apologize ~ Thursday Question

I've had a rough couple of days.  My son woke up Thursday about 4 in the morning covered in throwup.  He spent the entire day sick and finally was able to get some gravol to stick and he's back to normal as well.  I was nauteous the next night and my husband was nauteous yesterday and today.

So with sickness in mind, what is one of your home tips that helps you feel better when you are sick?

If you think you might have an ear infection, lay on your side with the owie ear facing up, then drop some garlic oil into your ear and let it sit for around 20 minutes.  The garlic helps to disinfect the area and helps to kill germs.  You can get garlic oil at the pharmacy and use a needle to poke a hole into the capsule until the oil comes out easily.  Of course, if it's a really bad infection, go in and get it looked at.

Wednesday!! Middle Of The Week Question!!!!

Only a few more days and it's March break for us up here in Canada.  Melody is so excited and keeps asking if it is Friday yet so she can enjoy her break from school.  I've recently been on a colouring binge and haven't made too many cards, now I have a ton of digi stamps to work with and I'm looking forward to making some cards.

Who is your favourite digi stamp designer that you find yourself always turning to when you want to make something?

I adore!! Jodie from Bugaboo Stamps.  Her images are just so stinkin cute and it's right up my alley in my style of cardmaking.  Here is a card I made recently with her little coffee bean guy.  Her tea time guy is adorable as well. Jodie also has a weekly digi stamp freebie on Fridays.  So go on and check her out and get some of her stamps.  =D

Tuesday Question ~ somehow it didn't get published

Well that was weird.  Yesterday's question didn't get published, the fun of technology and post dating posts. hehe

Well anywho, I was talking about my kids and how special they are.  My oldest daughter has asperger's (high functioning austism) and my youngest we believe is on the autistic spectrum as well.  My question yesterday was What are your wishes and dreams for your children?  If you don't have any children yet, what would you wish for your baby?

For my oldest, my wishes for her are to pursue her passions and dreams.  She is a bright little girl and I always tell her that she can be anything she wants to be, some things she may just have to work a little harder at.  I wish that she will have a family and find a godly christian man to love, adore and lead their household.

When my Ruby was alive, everyday I wished that she would have a great day.  That no matter what challenges she faced that she would take her time and learn from them.  You all would have liked her, she was such a spunky little girl.

Aizen... where to start with him.  It changes everyday.  Right now, my wish is for him to get more words.  He is so frustrated with not being able to communicate with us and I know he wouldn't be so upset if he could just tell us what he wanted.  I want for him to feel safe and secure in himself so that when he grows older he will lead a wonderful home with his family.

So... onto today's post. hehe

Monday's Question

This morning Aizen slept in (whooo hoooo) and I got to catch up on some tv and do some crafting.  It got me thinking of what I could ask today for my question. =)

Where do you primarily do your crafting?

I have 3 spots that I regularly craft at.

First is my craft nook.  I've moved things around since this post but I shared my nook over 5 posts.  Go and check it out.  =)  I got tired of having my crafting things in around 9 areas of the house.  SO!! I moved the bed as close to the closet as possible and took the rest of our master bedroom for my craft nook.  Hubby doesn't do much in there except get dressed and sleep, so he thought it was a great idea.

Second is at the kitchen table while I do my light therapy in the mornings.  I spend an hour in front of the day light therapy lamp every morning to help with my clinical depression and SAD.  I most often will be colouring in images or planning out things that I want to make in the near future.

Third is on the couch catching up on tv.  I often crochet, colour and even haul a couple supplies down to make a card.  I get antsy and need to have something to do while watching tv or a movie.  I've also been known to take my crocheting to the movie theatre.  LOL  After 10 years of crocheting, you usually aren't even looking at it while you make a simple hat.

I can't wait to hear where you all craft and I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see your crafting areas! I often find blogs that have organized (well for a little bit atleast lol) craft areas and get ideas for what might make my area a bit more functional.

I'll see you guys tomorrow for my scripture digi, which reminds me... I need to make a card for that, so guess I'm doing that while catching up on Biggest Loser tonight.  =)

Sunday Question ~ boo!! no internet yesterday

Our cable company decided that a Sunday would be a great day to fix some cables in our area, so I had no internet yesterday.  Could have been worse I guess, could have been on a Tuesday!! haha

So in leu of that, I  got to thinking of some things that I take for granted and sorta expect to be there all the time.  What are some things you are thankful for that are in your everyday life?

I take for granted that I have a house to live in and electricity.  There are so many people who do not have these basics and my heart just breaks that these people could be my neighbours.  We try to do things for others that we can.  We give money to our local food bank, when we are downtown and see someone who is homeless we'll go and get some food for them and let them know where the local shelters are (my eldest daughter even prays with them for their basic needs, SO awesome for a 9 year old).  We used to volunteer at the soup kitchen but it's been so hard with our son, he's just so hyper and active and once he gets a bit older we're going to get back into doing that.

Saturday Question

Saturdays are often an adventure at our home.  My husband works his day job (he has Wednesday's off in return) and we often go out and do new things.  It's raining today in the middle of winter. /shrug  So we are having an easy going day reading books, colouring, watching a movie, dancing to music, etc.

What are your favourite things to do while you are stuck inside b/c of the weather?

Crafting, crafting and more crafting.  I'm so glad that my kids both got the craft gene from me.  We all sit around the table and do different crafts.  I'm usually colouring my stamped images, Melody LOVES different craft kits and AiAi is just happy with his crayons and paper or markers and a blown up balloon.  I also really like just chillin with a cup of cocoa and a nice book.  Ahh I love quiet hour in our home... errr quiet hours.... from 12:30 to 2:30 you are in your room doing quiet stuff or napping, that's happened on many occassions. =D

Friday's Question ~ One Day Late

I got super busy with the kids yesterday and totally forgot to post a question for the day.   Friday night at our house is movie night and my daughter Melody gets to stay up and she chooses which movie to watch.  We watched Ice Age 3, completely hilarious movie.

What is your favourite movie?

Mine hands down is Grease.  I remember watching it when I was a teenager and I've loved it ever since.  I often find myself humming different tunes from the movie and Melody really enjoys dancing along when I'm singing.

Thursday's Question For Contest

Today has been a really good day for us.  We took my son to a place called Kids On The Loose and it's a big indoor squishy playground with awesome slides etc.  He had a Blast!!!!  He's a very active little guy and I swear he is hiding a coffee drip somewhere in his room, I have yet to find it.

So, the question for today is.... What was your favourite game to play as a child?

I used to love to play jumpsies.  You know with all the elastics joined up today and you have to jump and do certain moves.  I am not so sure I could them now though......

Can't wait to hear your answers!!!

Dee =)

You All Beat Me To The Punch ~ A Little Giveaway

So... I was going to offer one of the cards on my website once I hit 50 followers.  I came to post this and I have 51 followers!!! whooo hooo!!!!!  You can advertise this on your blog as well.  =)

Here is how this will work:

Each day until March 15th I will post a question so I can get to know you all better.  You may enter once a day with a comment about the question.  If you got here on say the 13th, you can backtrack to today and answer all of them so you can get those entries as well.  You can also get ONE extra entry by posting on your blog and linking it in your comment.

On March 16th afterschool, I'll have my daughter pull out a name from a hat, bowl or whatever will house all those entries.  The winner will choose any kind from my store and I'll mail it your way.

So here is the question today:  What is the one craft item in your nook you could not live without?  If you aren't a crafter (and maybe our cards etc will inspire to become one... and yes I am TOTALLY an enabler hehe), what couldn't you live without in your home?

I have a few things that I couldn't live without.  One is my white jelly pen, I use it for everything.  From eye dots to freckles to stitching or highlighting on an apple picture (had to mention the apple was a picture b/c my daughter looked at me funny and was wondering why I wanted to colour on a real apple lol) or something.  I also couldn't live without glue tape, if makes life so much easier and craft making go so much faster.

Looking forward to getting to know you all better. =)
